Responsible investigators are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available to them through the Zoo and Aquarium. Proposals that are consistent with Zoo and Aquarium research policies, that do not over-tax resources, and that are well conceived, well designed, and timely will be given every consideration.
Requirements For Proposal Submission:
- Investigators must be affiliated with an AZA-accredited institution, a USDA-approved university/college, or a USDA-approved research facility.
- Researchers affiliated with a foreign institution will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- You must contact a senior staff member (curator, veterinarian, deputy director) regarding your research request.
- Please ask the senior staff member for the appropriate forms and answers to questions regarding the completion of the proposal forms.
- The senior staff member will forward the completed proposal forms to the Conservation Education & Science Curator.
Graduate Students and Interns:
We are committed to providing students with opportunities to participate in and conduct research at the Zoo and Aquarium. Participants range from high school students who volunteer on research projects to Ph.D. candidates from various universities who perform their research at the Zoo. The research department also has an unpaid semester and summer internship program available.
