Future of the Zoo
The Dallas Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Texas, and a jewel of our city and region.
For over a century, the Zoo has served as a beloved haven for wildlife exploration and education, a place where the wonders of the natural world come alive. In the heart of North Texas, the Dallas Zoo has played an integral role in connecting our community to the wonders of wildlife. Our attendance has nearly doubled in the last decade, reflecting a growing passion for conservation and the natural world.
Now, we embark on our most most ambitious capital campaign yet – a transformative endeavor to elevate the Dallas Zoo to new heights of excellence. This multi-faceted campaign includes enhancements to animal habitats, educational facilities, and guest experiences, ensuring the Dallas Zoo remains a beacon of conservation and inspiration for generations to come.
Dallas is a world-class city, and it deserves the greatest Zoo we can create and support together.
We invite you to be a part of creating Wild Horizons.
Imagine a place where captivating animal habitats blend seamlessly into the landscape, where every step ignites curiosity and wonder. Envision a hub of education and conservation, inspiring future generations to become stewards of our planet. Discovering Wildlife
Safari Trail will reactivate 15 acres of City park land in a half-mile, safari-like experience featuring the return of rhinos to the Dallas Zoo, a new home for cheetahs, new café and event space, and more.
The Elephant Great Room will provide a new temperature-controlled, enclosed space for our growing herd.
Inspiring Generations
Wild Earth Discovery Center will quadruple capacity for the Zoo’s preschool, already North Texas’ only full-time, nature-based preschool, and create a dedicated school group entrance, a flexible auditorium, and outdoor classroom space for our youngest learners.
Connecting Communities
A new 580-space parking garage near the Dallas Zoo DART Station will serve both the Zoo and Southern Gateway Park visitors with new parking spaces while improving traffic flow in the neighborhood.
New pedestrian connections will make it safer and easier to access both the Zoo and Southern Gateway Park from the new garage. Continued security enhancements will ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and neighbors.
